MELROSE PEE WEE C-1

MELROSE 7 – WOBURN 1

Melrose beat Woburn in a snow storm game last weekend as one of the last official games of the Valley Youth Hockey League which shut down for 24 hours as a result of the snow storm.  Nick Kupchaunis led off the Melrose attack scoring from the top of the right playoff circle after being set up by Tom Pesatauro and James Smith.  Chris Sullivan got the second Melrose goal unassisted on a break-away beating the Woburn goalie on the glove side.  Zack Aslane scored after being set up by Shawn Stanton and Nick Kupchaunis during a bang bang play started by Kupchaunis in the corner.  Chris Sullivan scored his second of the night after being set up nicely by Jamie Ferreira and Ethan Ferris, making it Melrose 4 – Woburn 0.  Shawn Stanton scored on a rush up the right side after connecting with a Matt Centore pass who picked up the assist for the goal.  Woburn responded after the second scoring making it 5-1 Melrose.  The third period was end to end action with Brendan Woodworth scoring in the slot after being set up a nifty back-hand pass and assist of Mat Durant.  Kevin Marshall held the fort for the rest of the game with strong defensive contributions from Mat Centore, Zack Aslane, Matt Durant and Brendan Woodworth kept the Woburn off the board for much of the game.
