MELROSE PEE WEE C-1
MELROSE 9 – WINTHROP 6

Melrose had a tough shoot-out with the Winthrop Pee Wee B’s ending with a scorching third period where the Red Raiders scored 5 goals to put it away for Melrose. Chris Sullivan started off the scoring with a shot from the right playoff circle with fine assists from Evan Fay and Shawn Stanton. Winthrop answered the score immediately at the end of the first period making it 1-1. Shawn Stanton made it 2-1 with assists from Tex Ohanesian and Chris Sullivan as a result of a quick rush up the ice, catching Winthrop in the middle of a line change. Winthrop answered the score again making it 2-1. Chris Sullivan broke out of the defensive zone, rushing end to end, finishing the score off with a nice back hander making it Melrose 3-2. Winthrop answered the call again making it 3-3. Winthrop pulled ahead making it 4-3 with only a minute left in the second period when Sullivan scored again getting the hat-trick assisted by Zack Aslane to make it 4-4 at the end of the second. The third period started with another quick strike within the first two minutes by Chris Sullivan who was fed by James Eisenberg for a high wrist shot making it 5-4 capping off a whale of a game by Sullivan who finished with 5 points. Winthrop answered once again to make it 5-5, but Melrose wasn’t finished. Ryan Feeney playing up with the Pee Wees scored to make it 6-5 Melrose created by a blistering rush up the ice by Jamie Ferreira who got the assist together with Sean Kiernan. Winthrop made it 6-6, but the C-1 juggernaut kept jugging. Sean Kiernan scored, with a two on one rush with Nick Kupchaunis who got the assist, freezing the goalie with a hard slapper from the slot making it 7-6. Mat Centore broke in from the point on a power play and was fed a picture perfect pass by Conlon Healey to make it 8-6 Melrose. James Eisenberg kept the pressure on with a nice chip shot in front of the net after a hard slapper from Jaime Ferreira to make the final score 9-6. Kevin “make’em miss Marshall” continued his strong play, despite having to make a quick glove change in the middle of the second period.
